Hotel staff from the catering department of Dorsett Chengdu purchased ingredients and prepared home-style meals for left-behind and solitary elderly residents in the community. They visited the elderly door-to-door, inviting them to participate in meal preparation and cooking. Through shared activities like cooking and dining together around a table, the elderly revisited the warmth of homemade food, fostering neighborly interaction and emotional bonds. The collective meal preparation, shared dining, and conversations about life not only allowed the elderly to experience the warmth and care of a "family" but also encouraged their active participation in community affairs, strengthening their sense of belonging to the community.
As the area where Dorsett Chengdu is located is a typical aging community with significant service demands for solitary and left-behind elderly residents, the Luomashi Community Charity Micro Fund in Xiyuhe Sub-district, Qingyang District, focuses on addressing elderly loneliness and social reintegration. By using food as a means to connect intergenerational emotions, the initiative promotes the warm concept of "community as family." Through the setting of home-style banquets, it showcases the wisdom of resident autonomy and embodies the essence of "collaborative governance and shared benefits." Centered around the home-banquet activity, the project invited community micro-grid members, cultural teams, and resident leaders to co-create micro-dramas and short plays, such as the "Wen Banquet." Coverage by mainstream media has helped transform the community from a "physical space" into an "emotional community," injecting cultural cohesion into grassroots governance.
