Explore the City

Sightseeing Shanghai from the Dorsett Shanghai couldn’t be easier. Take a 15-minute walk to Kerry Parkside and Metro Line 2 / Century Park Subway Station, exit 4 stands right next to the Dorsett Shanghai. It is a simple 20-minute metro ride or a short trip by taxi across the river to experience the legendary Bund area, Jing An Temple, and People’s Square. The hotel runs a daily free shuttle bus service to Shanghai Disney Metro Line 11, takes you to Shanghai Disney in 30 minutes.

The Bund

Formerly known as the “Wall Street of the Orient”, the Bund is one of China’s most famous riverfront sites. Straddling the 10-lane thoroughfare (Zhong Shan East Road) is a series of majestic late 19th century and early 20th century European buildings, now housing high-end fashion boutiques and dining venues; it is also a beautiful promenade providing a panoramic view of Huangpu River and Pudong district. The buildings are spectacularly lit up at night in rainbow colours. It is 9 km from the Dorsett Shanghai.

Beside the Huangpu River, Huangpu District

Go through the hotel lobby, Metro Line 2 Century Park subway station, exit 4 is right next to the hotel, 5 stops to reach East Nan Jing Road subway station, through exit 3 walking along east Nanjing Road to reach The Bund area within 10 minutes. By Metro (approximately 20 minutes at CNY4 / US$0.6). By taxi (approximately 25 minutes at CNY35 / US$5.6).

Oriental Pearl TV Tower

The 468-metre tall Oriental Pearl TV Tower in the Lujiazui district is the world’s third tallest TV and radio tower. A popular symbol of the Pudong New Area, the structure is composed of three spheres including the top one which is known as the Space Module. The TV tower is the location of a number of recreational facilities and the Shanghai Municipal History Museum. A huge lower sphere is a sightseeing hall where visitors can enjoy unobstructed views of Huangpu River and the Lujiazui financial district. It is located 5 km from theDorsett Shanghai.

Century Park

From across Dorsett Shanghai sprawls the magnificent Century Park, a 140 million square metre natural wonderland of lush trees, verdant lawns, flowering plants, forests, and lakes. Most of the hotel’s guest rooms and suites have panoramic views of this eco-park. It offers an ideal location for leisure activities such as kite-flying and picnics and for early-morning runs or an idyllic stroll.

Shanghai Science and Technology Museum

Close to the Century Park and Dorsett Shanghai, this is one of the country’s most visited museums. Built at a cost of RMB3.75 billion, it features four science theatres and 13 main exhibition spaces such as the Spectrum of Life which showcases the scenery of Yunnan and its diverse fauna and Children’s Rainbow Land. It is located 1.5 km from the Dorsett Shanghai.

Shanghai Maglev Train

Built at a cost of US$1.2 billion, the Shanghai Maglev Train is the first magnetic levitation train in the world that is commercially operated. Its top operational speed is 431 kilometres per hour, said to be faster than the top speed of a Formula One car. The Maglev Train connects passengers to the Shanghai Pudong International Airport from the Longyang Metro Line. Located 1.3 km from Dorsett Shanghai. Maglev Train tickets are available at the hotel Concierge Desk.

Shanghai Disney Theme Park

Located in Pudong, Shanghai, the Shanghai Disney Theme Park, which opened in June 2016, covers 389. 7 hectares and feature the iconic Magic Kingdom plus hotels, a lake, and an assortment of recreational facilities. The park is operated by Walt Disney Parks and Resorts and Shanghai Shendi Group, through a joint venture between The Walt Disney Company and Shendi. Construction began on April 8, 2011. Currently the park has seven themed areas: Mickey Avenue, Gardens of Imagination, Fantasyland, Treasure Cove, Adventure Isle, Tomorrowland, and (under development) Toy Story Land.
