DORSETT CARES - A COMMUNITY PROJECT BY DORSETT AND SILKA HOTELS MY IN COLLABORATION WITH KIWANIS CLUB OF BUKIT KIARA

The festive season may have come and gone but the season of caring, giving and loving prevails at Dorsett and Silka Hotels.  At Dorsett Hospitality International, we have a strong hotel corporate social responsibility (CSR) drive, encompassing many aspects to make a difference in daily lives.  In living up to this promise, Dorsett and Silka Hotels in Malaysia together with Kiwanis Club of Bukit Kiara (KCBK)  embarked on a mission to brighten up the lives of some 48 elders at Anns Care Centre; and at the same time radiating one of the 3 Dorsett Philosophies….Dorsett Cares.

Anns Care Centre was set up some 17 years ago by Madam Ann and is a place called home by the 48 residents who comes from all walks of life, race and religion.  Vice Chairman of Dorsett Hospitality International together with General Managers of Dorsett Kuala Lumpur (Adele Ang), Dorsett Grand Subang (Christina Toh), Dorsett Hartamas (Peggy Tan), Dorsett Putrajaya (Alfred Paulsen), Silka Hotels MY (David Wong) and President of Kiwanis Club of Bukit Kiara, Loke Kah Peng and their respective team members had a ‘lou sang’ session and a sumptuous lunch with the elders; prepared by the culinary team of Dorsett Grand Subang.

To make the day even more meaningful for the elders; ‘ang pow’ were given out by Datin Jasmine and Christina Toh, Area General Manager of Dorsett Grand Subang whilst the rest of the General Managers, each presented the Centre with household items such as fresh towels courtesy of NetAllianz,  standing fans contributed by working partner Antswork; a meat freezer courtesy of Dorsett and Silka Hotels as well as KCBK, mattress and daily sundries courtesy of associates of Dorsett and Silka Hotels.

Collectively, Dorsett and Silka Hotels with KCBK also pledged a six-month support in the form of basic necessities for the Centre.  RM2000 cash was also collected from members of the public and presented to the Centre through the sales of umbrellas by the group’s Regional MarCom led by Kattie Hoo. The Engineering team of Dorsett Grand Subang together with Silka Hotels MY will also be looking into the upgrading of the centre’s derelict kitchen cabinets.

Members of the public who are interested to support the Centre in any which way or form may be in contact with Cynthia at +60 14-920 8017

As Mother Theresa once said; “It's not how much we give but how much love we put into giving,” -  it is the hope of Dorsett and Silka Hotels Malaysia as well as KCBK that their efforts will bring cheer and sunshine for the elders and at the same time encourage others to follow suit.
