HOSPITALITY LEADERS AND KIWANIS CLUB CHAMPION CHILDREN'S WELFARE WITH MAGICAL LION KING OUTING

KUALA LUMPUR, 19 JUNE 2026 – Underscoring their continuous dedication to the corporate social responsibility (CSR), the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) Selangor Chapter, the Kiwanis Club of Bukit Kiara and Dorsett Hotels Malaysia recently united to host more than 100 refugee children and orphans from Rumah Charis for a spectacular evening at The Lion King Concert.

Held at Malaysia’s iconic Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) Plenary Hall, the effort made by the organisations was to give an opportunity to the youth for a life-changing cultural and educational experience.

For the children—many of whom had never stepped into a world-class theatre—the evening was pure magic. From the moment the curtains rose, the Plenary Hall was filled with their audible gasps of delight, wide-eyed wonder, and spontaneous applause. The vibrant costumes, soaring music, and powerful storytelling of The Lion King kept the young audience utterly captivated, offering them a joyful escape and a profound sense of inclusion.

"Giving back to our community is at the very core of what we do; it is not just a one-off corporate duty," said Datin Jasmine Abdullah Heng, Chairperson of the MAH Selangor Chapter and Vice Chairman of Dorsett Hotels Malaysia.

"Seeing the sheer excitement, hearing their laughter, and watching their faces light up with pure wonder tonight reminds us exactly why we champion these initiatives. We want to show these children that they belong in these spaces, and we hope this inspires them to dream boldly despite their circumstances."

Meanwhile, as the joint sponsor, the Kiwanis Club of Bukit Kiara’s President, KahPeng Loke encouraged other organisations to come forward to collaborate with the club, MAH Selangor Chapter and Dorsett Hotels Malaysia to set a platform for the least fortunate children to play, to learn and to be culturally exposed in Malaysia.
