DORSETT KUALA LUMPUR PRESENTS AUTHENTIC ‘MASAKAN BONDA’ WITH TRADITIONAL RECIPES IN RAMADAN 2018

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA – In Ramadan 2018, Dorsett Kuala Lumpur offers guests a wide range of nostalgic delicacies during the holy month. The hotel invites you to share the ever united ceremonial of breaking-fast with your loved ones at the cozy, lively setting of Checkers Cafe which started from 17 May – 14 June 2018, 7pm till 10:30pm.

This year, our culinary team presents a dazzling array of more than 100 dishes, with key highlights of 13 signature ‘Masakan Bonda’; authentic Malay dishes from each state of Malaysia served buffet-style along with live-cooking hawker stall favourites. Inspired by Kak Shikeen, one of our longest serving employees and a motherly figure amongst our associates.  

“Daging Salai Masak Lemak Cili Padi Negeri Sembilan”, “Ikan Patin Asam Pedas Tempoyak Pahang”, “Kari Kepala Ikan Pulau Pinang”, “Rendang Ayam Minang Kuala Kedah”, “Ikan Bakar Siakap & Ikan Merah”, “Telur Itik Gulai Belimbing Buluh” are just few of the mouthwatering temptations to look forward to. Remember not to miss the ever must-have traditional Bubur Lambuk Melaka, the creamy traditional dish served as a starter during Ramadan. The comforting porridge is blended with fragrant spices, dried prawns, some salted fish, peanuts and freshly squeezed coconut milk. This is a childhood ‘mother’s dish’ in most Malay families. Another of Kak Shikeen’s key highlights for this Ramadan is the Kashmiri Kambing Briyani. The basmati rice is cooked with short grain rice and minced lamb which brings out the robust flavour in it, along with the delicious accompaniment of a Whole Roasted Lamb, Masala Mint Yoghurt and other healthy condiments. Mi Udang, Assam Laksa and Mi Kari are also featured as part of the live-cooking local hawker-stall favourites.

Wondering what are the thirst quenchers served at the same time? One of the signature chilled drinks in the beverage list would be Jus “Kurma madu & Badam” which is a concoction of honey, fresh dates and almond. Dessert lovers will be treated to a plentiful selection of “kuih Melayu” and tempting Rojak Buah. To end the feast on a perfect note, the culinary team’s signature Serawa Durian and “ABC & Ais Krim Potong” is absolutely a must try!
