PAWS FOR A CAUSE! 🐾

Dorsett Kai Tak Hosts Pet Adoption Day with Hong Kong Dog Rescue

[Hong Kong, 2 October 2025] Wags, wiggles, and warm hearts — Dorsett Kai Tak is rolling out the red carpet for dogs and their humans on Saturday 25 October 2025 from 11am to 4pm. In partnership with Hong Kong Dog Rescue (HKDR), Paws for a Cause promises a tail-wagging day of fun with al-fresco brunch, doga (dog yoga), a buzzing pet market, exclusive discounts and paw-sitively useful training tips.

Those looking to add a furry friend to their family can meet paw-fect companions of all shapes and sizes from HKDR, from bouncy puppies to wise old souls — all hoping to find their forever homes.

The vibrant pet-friendly Pawsome Market will offer retail therapy for both dogs and humans, brimming with treats, toys and pup-friendly surprises. Shoppers can enjoy exclusive, time-limited offers and special discounts from participating vendors, making it the perfect chance to stock up on goodies for your furry friends. Vendors include Buddy Bites, Precious Photobooth (perfect for striking a pose with your pup), Dots HK, Paws in Luxury and Evelynity. A portion of the proceeds from vendors will be donated to HKDR in support of their rescue efforts.

The day begins with Siete Ocho’s Saturday Brunch from 11am to 2pm, priced at HK$328 per person; an optional free-flow of house red, white and sparkling wine is available for HK$99. Brunch isn’t just for humans — four-legged foodies can tuck into their very own Pawsome Pet Menu, while pet-friendly seating and family tables make it a true community affair. Each brunch booking includes one complimentary doga slot from 1pm to 2pm, led by Mimi Cham of Mindful Pet–Human Yoga, Yoga Alliance RYS30, designed to encourage calm connection and gentle stretches with your dog. Doga slots are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to availability once all spaces are filled.

Education and welfare remain central to Paws for a Cause. From 3pm to 4pm, Eurica Li of Dogniversity (CPDT-KA) will lead a Cantonese workshop titled “Decoding Dog Language: A Heartfelt Dialogue with Doggos,” covering body language, stress signals and essential cues — helping owners understand their pups on a deeper level.

“Paws for a Cause celebrates the special bond between people and their pets while raising essential support for Hong Kong Dog Rescue,” said Anita Chan, Senior Vice President of Global Brand Marketing and Technology & Innovation of Dorsett Hospitality International. “The programme blends adoption, education and community fundraising and reflects Dorsett Kai Tak’s commitment to animal welfare and neighbourhood engagement.”

About Hong Kong Dog Rescue
HKDR was founded in 2003 for the specific purpose of saving dogs and puppies from the Hong Kong Government’s Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) Animal Management Centres, where at that time thousands of dogs and puppies were destroyed every year. These days most of the dogs and puppies taken in by HKDR come from a variety of other sources.

Some of these dogs are ex-breeder dogs, those that are no longer useful for the purpose of producing puppies for the pet trade. They are inevitably in poor health and condition due to their previous hard lives, and need extensive veterinary treatment, including surgery.

Of the dogs and puppies lucky enough to be rescued by HKDR, the larger ones will be taken care of at our main Tai Po Homing Centre, while smaller dogs and puppies awaiting re-homing stay at Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre.

As much as possible, very young puppies are placed in temporary foster care where they can live in a home environment before being permanently adopted. Our foster network also plays a vital role in helping dogs who come to us in poor health or needing surgery.

Alongside the rescue and re-homing efforts, education is also an important part of HKDR’s mission, with workshops and online seminars on a variety of subjects being regularly hosted. HKDR also runs monthly ‘Positive Partners’ Training Courses, which are designed to promote responsible pet ownership as well as reward-based training methods.
